What is the computer doing when you can hear it running really loudly (usually while it's going slow or there is a delay)? Is it the fan? Does this mean your request is too much for the computer to handle? Does it do eventual damage to your computer?
The fan does cause increased noise when you are running a lot on the computer at one time or for some other reason. Often times it can be as simple as one of the air vents on the computer is being blocked so heat cannot escape. It can also be a problem with the software that is used to control temperature fails to properly regulate the fan.
ReplyDeleteI got the info from http://www.laptop-overheating.com/
This can do damage to your computer. It will over time damage componates of the computer and shorten the life of the computer.
If you're laptop runs hot consistently, you may want to look into buying a cooling pad. They're not too expensive and could prevent your computer from overheating and losing data. (Link below)
ReplyDeleteMy Dell also had a problem with noise - it kept making a loud clicking when I tilted the computer. It turned out to be a skewed hard drive that was skipping and needed to be replaced. So make sure that the loud noise is just the fan and not a more serious problem.

Having had a similar problem with my Mac laptop, I have also wandered the same question. When your computer is running loudly, there may be various reasons. One reason could be the fan, as you suggested. A fan is located within your computer for cooling purposes. This is due to RAM, processor, or other features that have increased in power consumption and in turn, have produced an access of heat. In order to prevent overheating or damage, the fan is used to keep these components within a particular temperature range. ReplyDeleteAlso, another reason for the “slowness” of your computer as well as being able to hear your computer running loudly is due to something known as thrashing. Often times, the speed of your software may become slower when your computer only has the minimum amount of memory needed. When the computer needs to move files or information between the virtual memory on a disk and the main memory, the data transfer may take a long time. This is especially true when your main memory is too small and current sections have to continually replace previous ones. Thus thrashing is referred to the movement of materials between the disk and main memory. It happens when your computer continually read and writes onto your hard drive. If your problem is continues, I would look into getting a larger memory.
